one hundred and four nights i slept beside you. a million and one breaths you've taken in your sleep. still i find it puzzling to think of the constant desire to wrap my soul around you and how i kept myself secure with the few inches between us. at least one single night i might've found myself unable to settle my storms, but that remains untrue. with all that's progressed and the distance now breathing between my former ghost and i, it's a wonder i kept so collected. still i breathe you in every movement and I've yet to release this heavy heart but i can say it no longer folds my frame. after all this i am still fond of you, and when i asked you how you'd been i meant i missed you more than anything before but i hold a living warmth within me, knowing i no longer count the breaths you take in your sleep. i continue to live. i am still fond of you.
